Suples – Strength & Conditioning

Ivan Ivanoff and his staff will demonstrate and explain his Suples Training System. The name “Suples” carries two meanings: first, it is a powerfully explosive wrestling throw performed only by the most highly-skilled athletes, and more commonly, it comes from its base meaning of the word “supple,” which defines a combination of great strength and flexibility. Ivan has developed a wrestling specific training system and will show you the most efficient way to develop your team.

Integrating Mental Training into Everyday Training

We have all heard the quote “sport is 90% mental and 10% physical” however many coaches continue to focus the majority of their practice time rehearsing physical skills. This is due to lack of education on essential mental skills as well as how to incorporate these skills into everyday training. In this session, we will identify core mental skills for student-athletes as well as how to integrate these skills into practice plans. This session will be split into three segments. First, Emma will identify six mental skills that are core to the well-being and high performance of student-athletes. She will share samples in which these skills are woven into the design of the season and daily practices. Next, participants will work in small groups of peers to identify how best to incorporate a given skill into a season and daily training plans. Lastly, each group will present their findings to the larger group.

Program Structure/Planning/Periodization

You have heard this many times, “if you fail to plan you are planning to fail”. Many of us in the coaching profession do not take enough time to prepare our plan for success. In this workshop you will learn how to develop a plan that allows for maximum efficiency in athlete development, coaches unity, and organizational implementation. Athletes – create a yearly schedule that allows them to peak at the most important time. Coaches – Unify all coaches , both volunteer and staff, to one system of development. Organization – align our budget and development plan. Coach Steiner will also touch on camps, competition schedule, daily structure, and periodization in your program.
